Honoring the famed Western artist, Frederic Remington, and the only Museum dedicated solely to his works.
America Remembers is thrilled to announce a handsome firearm that captures that Western frontier spirit of adventure and excitement with The Frederic Remington Art Museum Tribute Rifle. The Frederic Remington Rifle is a truly unique way to own a piece of history.
With every stroke of his paintbrush, every cut of his sculpting knife and every tale he wrote, Frederic Remington shaped the way we remember the West. Frederic Remington was on hand as America’s free and wild Western frontier passed out of existence. In his precisely rendered artwork and engaging stories, Frederic Remington provided the world with a dynamic chronicle of American frontier. He experienced and immortalized the cowhands, troopers, and American Indians who inhabited it so that future generations would continue to see and appreciate a special era in America’s history.
On the left side of this Frederic Remington Rifle, “Charge of the Rough Riders at San Juan Hill” is captured in remarkable detail. Teddy Roosevelt (on horseback) leads cavalrymen in their historic 1898 charge during the Spanish-American War. Also featured is “The Alert,” depicting a “Buffalo Soldier,” one of the African-American soldiers who served on the Western frontier after the Civil War. All artwork is featured in a combination of 24-karat gold and nickel with a highly polished blackened silver-nitride background for maximum detail and contrast.
On the right side, Frederic Remington’s classic “An Old Time Plains Fight” is featured above the inscription “Frederic Remington Art Museum Tribute.” Frontiersmen have dismounted to fight off a Indian attack on the wide-open plains. Also featured is “The Outlier,” as a solitary Indian on horseback signals the changing way of life and the end to an era of their freedom to live and move freely on the Western Plains.
Issued in cooperation with the Frederic Remington Art Museum in Ogdensburg, New York, this handsome Tribute Rifle captures Frederic Remington’s favorite subjects. For this Tribute to Frederic Remington, we selected the Winchester Model 94 rifle. It played a celebrated role in the West, and was a favorite of cowboys and ranchers in the West.
It is a classic American lever-action rifle, and because of its popularity, it has remained in production for over 100 years. Among the proud owners of the Model 94 rifle have been Texas Rangers and Wells Fargo operatives, movie stars and presidents from Theodore Roosevelt to Dwight Eisenhower.
The Tribute is a genuine, fully functional, working Winchester Model 94 rifle in caliber .30-30, with a 20-inch barrel. The receiver has been embellished with 24-karat gold artwork capturing some of Frederic Remington’s finest works. The handsome blackened background adds a dramatic, three-dimensional effect to this museum-quality masterpiece. Each Frederic Remington Art Museum Tribute Rifle is decorated with artwork by craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers.
In 1909, at age 48 and at the height of his abilities and popularity, Frederic Remington died shortly after an appendicitis operation. He left as his legacy nearly 3,000 works of art that continue to delight millions of people around the world. Two years before the artist’s death, Theodore Roosevelt wrote that through Frederic Remington’s efforts, the lost era of the American West would endure forever. “The soldier, the cowboy and rancher,” he wrote, “the Indian, the horses and cattle of the plains, will live in his pictures and bronzes, I verily believe for all time.”
