America Remembers introduces the Doc Holliday and Kate Haroney Tribute Revolver. This single action revolver celebrates this unique couple from the West.
Doc Holliday and Kate Haroney
It’s hard to forget a man like Doc Holliday. In an era known for its colorful characters, hardly any have become much brighter than Doc. But almost as important to the legend of Doc Holliday are the few people whom he grew close with throughout his short life; those he befriended, such as the legendary Wyatt Earp, and the one lady who managed to snag his heart, Kate Haroney.
Kate Haroney was a doctor’s daughter who became one of the “soiled doves” of the Old West, a hard drinking lady who took orders from nobody. Doc Holliday was an infamous gambler, quick with a pistol and never far from a bottle of whiskey. The two of them made quite a memorable pair. As the story goes, Doc Holliday and Kate Haroney first met at a saloon in Fort Griffin, where Doc Holliday dealt cards. Once they hit it off, they became inseparable. Even though Doc Holliday and Kate Haroney never had a “happily ever after,” they lived hard and loved life. Together, they left their mark on one of the most turbulent and exciting times in American history.
Today, America Remembers is proud to honor this legendary Western couple with the Doc Holliday & Kate Haroney Tribute Revolver. The Tribute is a recreation of the classic Western firearm – the legendary Single Action Revolver – and is handsomely decorated with scenes and portraits celebrating this memorable pair. Revolvers for this Tribute are produced for us by the master craftsmen of A. Uberti, who are regarded as the world’s premier maker of historic firearms recreations. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each working revolver with artwork featured in stunning 24-karat gold and nickel. The result is a museum-quality masterpiece that truly captures the spirit of two American originals.
An American Masterpiece of the Old West
Few firearms carry more of the romance and adventure of the Old West than the Single Action Revolver. “The Peacemaker” has truly become an iconic firearm and deserving of the title “The Gun That Won The West.” This six-shot equalizer was the pistol of choice for lawmen and outlaws; gamblers and thieves; cowpunchers and the U.S. Cavalry. This revolver has been tied to many legends such as Bat Masterson, Wyatt Earp and Pat Garrett, and celebrated Western icons, such as Buffalo Bill Cody and Wild Bill Hickok. It has been reported that Doc Holliday carried one in his travels through the boomtowns of the rugged frontier.
The left side features “Doc Holliday” written in Western-style lettering, surrounded by elegant scrollwork and book ended with a rose bloom and a die. On the left side of the frame is a scene of Doc and Kate cozying up on horseback.
Both sides of the handsome faux ivory grips feature a portrait of Doc and Kate at the Faro table based on a painting by the renowned Western author and illustrator, Bob Boze Bell. All artwork is featured in stunning 24-karat gold and nickel against a blued steel barrel. The cylinder and recoil shield feature legendary card hands: a Royal Flush, a Skip Straight, the notorious Dead Man’s Hand, The Blaze, Four Sixes and Five of a Kind. Each hand is named, encircled in the rose vine border and anchored with a lucky horseshoe.
The right side features “Kate Haroney” in Western-style lettering, surrounded by elegant scrollwork and book ended with the same rose bloom and a die, though at opposite ends. On the right side of the frame, Doc gambles while Kate looks on. Few seats in the frontier were as intimidating as the one next to Doc Holliday in a card game.
