For this historic Tribute, America Remembers selected a working Colt® Government Model® .45 caliber pistol. Born for a combat role, the Colt .45 was the classic military firearm of the 20th century, a favorite sidearm of America’s military from World War I through Vietnam. Craftsmen commissioned specifically for this project by America Remembers decorate each pistol in sparkling 24-karat gold artwork with blackened patinaed highlights.

Machined Steel Grips – A “First” From America Remembers
This Tribute features solid steel grips which have been designed and produced specifically for this Tribute. Each of the custom-made grips is CNC machined from a bar of solid steel and handsomely decorated with 24-karat gold and blackened patina for a spectacular new look. The extra weight from the steel also lowers the center of gravity which some believe stabilizes the sight, increasing accuracy and softening the recoil. This is the first time America Remembers has featured 24-karat gold decorated steel grips on a Tribute and we believe they will be extremely popular with collectors.
Featured on both sides of the slide is an elaborately detailed Asian dragon, a popular image in Vietnam representing the prosperity, power and nobility of the nation. This magnificent and powerful dragon extends gracefully across the slide and includes a banner on each side. On the left it reads, “Vietnam Tribute to Valor,” and on the right, “In Lasting Memory of Unequal Courage,” written in elaborate bamboo art. Both bamboo and dragons were featured on the Vietnam Service Medal, awarded to members of the Armed Forces who served in Vietnam.
