The Frank McCarthy U.S. Calvary Tribute Revolver

Featuring Rarely Seen Artwork by
“The Dean of Western Action Painters”

“My artistic approach is not to do a historical document, but more a portrayal of a scene that has happened many times in many places in the West. I want to give that scene as much visual impact as possible, so the detail and action are as accurate as I can make them.”

Frank McCarthy

Mention of the United States Cavalry brings to mind heroic scenes form the big screen with cavalrymen riding to the rescue of settlers and covered wagons heading West. Few periods in the history of the United States have captured our imagination like the Old West.

Life on the Western frontier has been magnificently portrayed by generations of artists. One of today’s most honored and respected artists is Frank McCarthy, who has been called “The Dean of Western Action Painters,” and whose artwork magnificently captures the era of the U.S. Cavalry on the Western frontier. His paintings capture the drama of survival on the harsh Western Plains with such reality that they seem like picture windows into the past. McCarthy captured poetic moments of majesty, breathtaking flashes of action and masterful snapshots of the dangerous life of a United States Cavalry trooper.

A Tribute to the Master of Western Action
In honor of this historic period, and one of America’s foremost Western artists,  America Remembers proudly presents “The Frank McCarthy U.S. Cavalry Tribute Revolver,” a handsomely decorated firearm based on classic paintings by Frank McCarthy. For this first-ever Tribute revolver from America Remembers featuring artwork from Frank McCarthy, we knew it was important to select a handgun with a strong Western pedigree. With that in mind, no firearm seemed more appropriate that the classic Single Action revolver of the Old West.

Issued in a limited edition of only 300 Tributes, each revolver now available in the edition is a working Single Action revolver in caliber .45 LC, produced for us by the master craftsmen of Uberti, who have expertly created this classic firearm just as they have created so many other Western classics and have established themselves as the premier maker of historical firearms recreations. Craftsmen commissioned specifically by America Remembers decorate each Tribute in stunning 24-karat gold and nickel artwork with a blackened patinaed background to highlight the details of the artwork, featuring four unique masterworks from Frank McCarthy that portray the U.S. Cavalry.

No other revolver carries more of the romance and adventure of the Old West than the legendary Single Action Army. “The Peacemaker” has truly become an iconic firearm deserving of the title, “The Gun That Won the West” or “The Equalizer.” Unquestionably, it’s also the handgun most closely associated with the men in bluecoats on the Western frontier, and it was the official sidearm during the era of the Old West, having been carried into battle by some of the cavalry’s greatest troopers.

Frank McCarthy U.S. Cavalry Tribute Revolver - Left Side
Left side of the cylinder features three riders represented from McCarthy’s great painting, “In Search of Hostiles.” Rendered in 24-karat gold, the troopers seem to leap from the nickel background. The recoil shield features a lone trooper on horseback, a detail from McCarthy’s painting “With Carbines Drawn.”

Frank McCarthy U.S. Cavalry Tribute Revolver - Right Side

Right side of the cylinder features a pair on horseback from the McCarthy painting, “In Pursuit of Geronimo.” The lead rider has his revolver drawn; the brim of his cavalry hat blows back in the wind as his horse explodes into full gallop.
Featured on the backstrap is a detail from McCarthy’s painting, “Sending Flankers Out.” Also featured on the backstrap, book ended by two decorative scrolls, is the distinctive signature of Frank McCarthy as it appears on so many of his revered paintings of the American West.

Complementing the overall design is stunning 24-karat gold plating, along with richly-polished walnut grips.
